poultry pavilion at the Cobar Show on Saturday.
The Poultry Pavilion was packed with 124 quality entries at this year’s Cobar Show with Les Wiley from Trundle taking out the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Birds of Show honours.
Exhibition Poultry Association accredited judge from Dubbo, Pagan Lickiss, said the standard of entries for this year’s competition had been very good.
“The hard feather section is really strong.
“There’s a lot of really good birds, in good condition, very active,” Ms Lickiss said.
She commented that Mr Wiley’s Grand Champion bird looked to be a “very fit, very healthy bird”.
She said the Grand Champion had good feather condition, especially for this time of year.
“It’s hard out this way especially because it’s been so dry. Feather conditions are really affected by those sort of things, but he’s fit and he’s healthy.
“The hard feather bantam section was definitely the strongest section of the shed,” she said.
Mr Wiley also took out prizes for Champion and Reserve Soft Feather (Bantam) and Champion Hard Feather (Bantam).
Tahlia Bonanno from Wollongong won the Poultry Champion and Reserve ribbons in the Soft Feather (large) section.
Tom McBride won the Poultry Champion Hard Feather (large) title while Neville Fugar collected the Hard Feather (large) Reserve Champion ribbon.
NAKS Poultry of Cobar (Neville, Archie, Khan and Spencer Fugar) won the Reserve Champion of the Hard Feather (Bantam) section.
Archie Fugar was the Junior Champion and Ashton Campbell was the Reserve Champion for 2026.
