Golf course was quiet on the weekend

The only golf played in the local men’s competition at the weekend was on Saturday when a small field of eight players contested a Stableford event.
Steve Manns had a great round scoring 41 points to win four shots clear of Mark Quinn on 37. Third place went to Mark Martin on 35 points.
It seems Greg Clark still has the gremlins in his game, only scoring 28 points.
Will Brown, having his first game of the year, found the going a bit tough, scoring only 25 points. He can however take heart from Chris Powell who only scored 24 points last week but improved this week to score 34.
Nearest the Pin prizes were won by Martin on the 7th hole and Robbie Cummins on the 8th.
There was no golf played on Sunday.
With all the rain in the east of the state, the Walcha Sand Greens competition miraculously still went ahead.
There were 10 local players at Walcha representing Cobar: Craig Dillon and Greg Read – Alec and Mark Fraser – Paul and Sam Kershaw – Garry Wilkin and Bill Fugar – Stewart Fraser and Peter Lawrence.
The Cobar players did not do very well and you have to look a long way down the leader-board before the familiar names of Dillon and Read show up.
The winning team came from Uralla and Armidale while Condobolin golfer Brad Hurley came in third.
This Saturday’s game is a Four Ball Multiplier and on Sunday the 1st Round of the Captain’s Trophy will be played as a Stroke event
