Only a small field

Lady golfers must have still been thawing out from last weekend as only six players fronted for Wednesday’s Par game.

Ann Dunn had a good win finishing the day with a +3 score.

Fay Hardwick placed second with an even card and Di Greer was third with -1.

Jenny Stephenson was the A Grade pin winner on the 7th hole, Ann Dunn won B Grade and Di Greer was the C Grade winner.

The rain held off on Saturday for the annual Bannister’s Day Stableford event with the sun making a welcome appearance on the day.

Sue Phillips was the ladies competition winner in the field of 19 posting a brilliant score of 39 points. Di Greer was a close second with 38 points followed by Marlene Wynd (35), Joy Josephson (34), Fay Hardwick (33) and Angela Fryer and Jenny Stephenson, who  finished with 32 points each. Nearest the Pin prizes went to Fran Samios, Jenny Stephenson (2), Susan Goonrey and Narelle Kriz.

Celebrations with the men winners and the Bannister family then continued on at the ‘19th hole’ and went well into the night.

Rain closed the course on Sunday and so the July Trophy Day Stroke round that was to have been played will now take place this Sunday. Today is a Stroke game.

COVID-19 restrictions have forced the cancellation the Rosebowl this weekend (which Cobar was to have hosted this year) and so Saturday’s game will now be a Stableford.

The Mine Challenge which was scheduled for later this month has also been cancelled.

The committee made the decision to call it off this year due as many of the sponsors have been doing it tough.—T’d Off
