Roosters Under 11s beat Narromine in Tier 2 grand final

The Cobar Roosters Under 11s won their Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League Tier 2 grand final on Saturday finishing with a 28-12 win over Narromine Red.

The Roosters meant business from the outset with Sam Dunne scoring within the first minute and, by half time, they had a good 18-6 lead.

Cobar’s other try scorers were Sophie Cain, Tim Eves, Hayden Seng and Jhett Walsh while Tim Eves, Tim McCormack, Jack Rogers and Hayden Seng were responsible for their goals.

Sam was a standout in the game to be named Cobar’s Player of the Match.

N.B. We received some incorrect results for our report last week for the Under 11s on their August 31 game against South Dubbo.

The Cobar side convincingly won the match 40-22 which propelled them into Saturday’s grand final.

Tim Eves was Cobar’s leading try scorer with three tries, Sam Dunne ran in two tries and Axel Fairfull and Hayden Seng also crossed for the Roosters.

Tim, Axel, Hayden, Jaxon Burke, Jack Rogers and Zaiden Saunders were responsible for their conversions.

The Coach’s Awards for last week’s match went to Sam Dunne and Rohan Bartlett.

The Cobar Under 10s came up against Dubbo City in their Tier 2 grand final game at Dubbo on Saturday and were heartbreakingly beaten by just 12 points.

It was a close match throughout and by half time the young Roosters only narrowly trailed 16-22.

The Dubbo side however ran away in the second half to finish with a 34-22 win.

Nate Martin, scoring three tries, was Cobar’s Player of the Match.

Mason King also ran in a try for Cobar with Nate, Rowdy Barton and Kai McCosker their goal kickers.
