The Cobar Roosters Rugby League Club has appointed two captain/coaches to lead the First Grade team in 2024.

Last season’s captain/coach Thomas Plater and 2022 captain/coach Loma Atuau will be joining forces to lead the side in 2024.

Not only have they both captain/coached before, they also led the 2022 team to a Castlereagh premiership title!

Tom’s teaching experience makes him well-suited for the coaching role.

With a background in education, Tom has honed effective communication skills, the ability to motivate individuals, and has a passion for fostering a positive team culture.

His experience as a teacher has instilled in him a commitment to player development both on and off the field.

Loma brings an in-depth insight into football that is invaluable for strategising and optimising player performance.

With a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of the game, Loma is well-equipped to lead the side both on and off the field, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and implementing tactical approaches that align with the club’s objectives.

Loma’s football acumen adds a strategic dimension to the Roosters’ coaching approach.

Both Tom and Loma have a shared history of coaching with the Cobar Roosters, providing them with a unique understanding of the club’s dynamics, culture, and the specific needs of the individual players and the team as a whole.

Their experience coaching together in the past has allowed them to develop a cohesive coaching style that maximises the team’s collective strengths and hopefully that continues into 2024.

Both Tom and Loma hold the skills and attributes for the role, with strengths in varying areas to provide the First Grade side with the best opportunities possible.—contributed
