The countdown is on with less than two weeks before the 2026 Cobar Show will go off with a bang—literally!

The popular, annual, family event once again promises lots of things to see and do including two fireworks shows, sponsored by Harmony/CSA Mine.

Kicking off early Friday morning, horse events and show jumping will get underway, followed by a full day of judging across sheep, fleece and pavilion sections.

The Boucher and Ward Oval pavilions will showcase a range of community entries, including several new additions this year.

Entries are being taken this year in printmaking in the Fine Arts section, a new terrarium category, and an expanded adult Lego section that will feature kit builds after overwhelming demand last year.

(The Lego displays have also been lowered this year to make them easier for children to view.)

HLS Trick Riding, Mr Shaggles the clown, singer Adam ‘Tex’ Diaz, Momentum Dance, and Toomey Tunes along with Karaoke at the Bar are all part of this year’s entertainment.

Friday night’s official opening will feature the Young Woman of Cobar presentation, with special guests including 2024 Young Woman of NSW Domonique Wyse, alongside Cobar’s Citizen of the Year Colby Lawrence and Young Citizen of the Year Katie Nicholson.

Saturday’s program is just as action-packed, and will see the return of the Grand Parade and the high-energy Dog High Jump competition, now boasting impressive prize money.

There’s also a full lineup of family-friendly events such as the Little Miss and Master competition, the popular pet show and Young Farmers Challenge.

Ken Dunne and his HighWheeler horseless carriage will also make a special appearance.

There’s strong interest across competitions, including a poultry entrant travelling seven hours to take part.

Behind the scenes, recent upgrades to livestock yards, new signage, and the addition of a display case from the Sydney Royal Easter Show highlight ongoing improvements.

The 2026 Cobar Show sure is shaping up as a must-attend event for locals and visitors alike.
