Roosters juniors outclass their Coolah/Dunedoo opposition

Cobar’s Under 16s League Tag team after their 34-12 win on Saturday.

Cobar Junior Rugby League Under 16s and Under 10s rugby league teams and Under 16s League Tag team had their first hit out in the Castlereagh juniors competition on Saturday at Tom Knight Memorial Oval.

The Cobar sides ran the show and outclassed their Coolah/Dunedoo opponents.

The Roosters Under 16s rugby league side won their match 32-8 over Coolah/Dunedoo with Rowdy Barton contributing 22 points to their tally with a try and nine conversions.

Kai McCosker, Josh Francisco and Lachie Brookman each scored doubles with Eli Martin, Tate Sinclair, Aiden Hyland and Billy George also crossing for a try each.

Billy was named their Players’ Player and Talas Burke collected the Coaches Award.

Best & Fairest points were shared between Tate, Rowdy and Corey Piggot.

The Cobar Under 16s girls had the upper hand throughout their Round 1 League Tag match with Coolah/Dunedoo and finished with a convincing 34-12 win.

Rhylee Jeffery, with two tries and two conversions, led the scoring for Cobar with Rubi Reid, Ella Oborn, Abbey Farrell and Zara Patterson also crossing for a try each.

Bria-June Brookman also added four points to their tally with her two successful conversions.

Ella and Zara shared in the referee’s Best & Fairest points along with Lara Stephens

Rubi was named Players’ Player and Ella collected the Coaches Award (which was selected by the opposition’s coach).

Cobar’s Under 10s uncontested match with their Coolah/Dunedoo opposition was a try scoring fest, with Darcy Geppert running in three tries for the Roosters.

Rosie George, Harlan Mahaffey, Levi Prince and Lenny Hill also touched down for a try each for Cobar.

Darcy was named their Players’ Player and Harlan earned the Coaches Award. Best & Fairest points were shared between Tate Stephens, Lucas Davey and Rosie George.

The Roosters Under 12s received a notified forfeit while the Under 14s had a bye.
