Local riders Lila and Ella Armstrong made the trip to Quirindi for the NSW State Pony Club Combined Training and One Day Event Championships over the weekend with great results for both from the large field of riders.

Lila and her horse, ‘Horse’, competed in C Grade 13-17 years division in combined training and won their dressage section with an impressive score of 70 per cent.

Unfortunately they had two rails down in the jumping discipline which saw them finish in 6th place overall.

Ella and her mount, ‘Bob Marley’, competed in E Grade in Under 13 years and finished their dressage discipline with a score of 72 per cent and had a clear round in the show jumping to win the Overall Champion Rider title.

Lila and Horse then backed up to compete in the eventing championships, winning their dressage with 74 per cent, going clear in the show jumping and completing the final phase of cross country clear with no time faults to see them in first place and be named Overall Champion for D Grade 13-17 years.—contributed
