
The Cobar Netball 2025 senior and junior competitions got underway on Friday at the Ward Oval netball courts.
In the Seniors competition, Smash Ups proved to be too good for Copper City Crushers taking the match 36-25.
Smash Ups got off to a good start and had a five goals lead at the first break. They then extended their lead to eight goals by half time.
Copper City Crushers changed tactics at half time and reined back the difference to six points in the third quarter before Smash Ups bounced back to finish with a nine point win.
Emma Harley (Smash Ups), Kym Sutton (Copper City Crushers) and Neve Carter (Smash Ups) shared in the game’s Best & Fairest points.
With a strong shooting line-up and an equally strong defence team, Divas dominated their Round 1 late game with Pink Galahs taking the match 71-14.
Lauren Urquhart (Divas), Ethan McLeod (Divas) and Cairo Haronga (Pink Galahs) collected B&F points while Amie Hill (Divas) and Hannah Thorn (Pink Galahs) earned the Sportsmanship awards.
