Soccer players bound back on to the fields at Ward Oval

After a short break over the school holidays, soccer players once again bounded eagerly onto the fields at Ward Oval on Saturday morning.
In the Mini’s competition, United’s Joshua McMillan, Joe Arnold and Logan McKenzie showed some great teamwork scoring three goals despite being low on players. Joshua McMillan and Oliver Neate took home the Gumnuts milkshake awards this week.
The green Rangers team came up against the orange Rovers with Xavier Foster and Cooper Trudgett being high scorers for the Rovers. Ford Ellison and Cooper Suridge were awarded the Cobar Hotbake donut vouchers for their great efforts.
In the Mids, Liverpool took on United with Liverpool players Alfie Toomey, Rhylee Pat-terson and Zara Patterson scoring goals to help their team to a 7-2 win. Joseph Theakston and Montana Grentell scored for United. Nixon Small and Zara Patterson took home the awards for Liverpool, while Abel Nilson and Jeremiah McMillan earned United’s awards.
The Rangers team scored nine goals in a solid 9-4 win against the Rovers in their Mids game. Rovers didn’t take it lying down with Isla McKervey adding a goal to their total score of four and taking home the Gumnut Milkshake award for her efforts. The Rangers awards went to Hayley and Taylah Wyllie.
The Seniors game once again ended in a 4-all draw aided by Luke Guirin (back for the school holidays) scoring two goals for Spurs.
Caleb Theakston and Raymond Jones also netted goals for Spurs. Rangers’ Ethan McLeod and Jeremy Theakston were on fire netting four goals between them and displaying exceptional teamwork.—contributed
