The Cobar Arts Council celebrated Mother’s Day by hosting a Mum & Me High Tea at the Cobar Railway Station on Sunday.

The event was sold out early with a group of  40 lucky mums (and some of their family members) being royally spoilt by the Arts Council “chefs and wait staff”.

The railway platform was bathed in sun,  tables were beautifully set and flowers helped to create a lovely setting.

Guests were welcomed with an array of beverages and their High Tea included a mix of sweet and savoury food including delicate cakes, miniature sausage rolls and quiches, iced biscuits, and various slices.

Entertainment was provided by local musician John Peebles, who serenaded guests with a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Adding to the entertainment, Arts Council members Betsy and Ray Chandler and a talented young cast performed a ‘That’s When We Knew We Were Good Parents’ skit which  touched on sentiments that resonated with many mothers and daughters in the audience.

The afternoon also featured a lighthearted game of Cards Against Humanity, with a mum-themed twist, hosted by Susan Singleton.

The Mum & Me High Tea was declared a resounding success by organisers and attendees with plans to hold the event again next year.

Bev Mitchell won the lucky door prize, a mother-themed pastel artwork by local artist Anita Neate.
