Cobar High School student and cadet Jye Robinson was presented with The Cobar Weekly’s Young Achiever award last Saturday night.
The 17 year old was nominated for the award by cadet leader Colleen Boucher.
“Jye has been a member of the Cobar Cadet Unit for four and a half years and in that time he has grown to be what all young members should aspire to be,” Mrs Boucher said.
“This year Jye will nominate for his senior leaders course to be a Cadet Under Officer, the highest rank in a unit.”
She said Jye has earned the respect of his peers in the unit and also at school where this year he was elected as a school captain and he also maintains high grades.
He was recently presented with the prestigious Victor Chang award for science.
“Jye is a well balanced young man with sound social and academic skills,” Mrs Boucher said.
The Cobar Weekly Young Achiever awards aim to recognise young people in our community who are doing great things, whether in sporting, academic or employment fields.
Previous winners have also been recognised for their commitment to help local organisations or have displayed extraordinary acts of mateship and caring for others. If you know a young person under 25 years of age who you think deserves recognition, call into The Cobar Weekly’s office for a nomination form.
