Simone Knight has been re-elected for her eighth consecutive year as president of the Cobar Junior Rugby League Club at the club’s annual general meeting last Thursday.

Mrs Knight took over the president’s role in 2013 when the club had just 35 players registered.

Under her leadership over the past seven years, the club has grown considerably to 130 players being registered for the 2019 season with the club having 171 members which includes committee, volunteers, coaches and referees.

Serving her eighth year as president, Mrs Knight now equals the length of service of one of the club’s former presidents, great Cobar footballer Tom Knight, after whom the club’s grounds have been named in honour of.

Mrs Knight said she’s not sure she wants to eclipse Tom’s record and so this might be her last year as president.

At last week’s AGM, Genie McMullen was voted to the vice president’s role after outgoing vice president Rob Josephson didn’t seek re-election.

The rest of the committee is unchanged with Kelly Fairbank returning as secretary, Chris Brown as treasurer and Emma Barton as the club’s registrar.

Elected to the general committee were Rhiana Kershaw, Graeme Barton and Lauren Lamond.
