Mark Fraser opened the 2018 Men’s Golf season with a sensational round of 46 Stableford points to win the Monthly Medal competition on Saturday.
Fraser must have found the new greens to his liking and will now be playing off a single figure handicap with his par round.
In second place with 39 points on a countback was Jay Egan followed by Phil Gilligan, also on 39.
Jim Goonrey took out 4th place with 38 points on a countback from Alec Fraser.
Nearest to the Pin prizes went to Egan, Mark Fraser and Jacob Ryan.
A small field of six players contested the Four-Ball-Worst-Ball Stableford game on Sunday. Mark Fraser combined with his old man, Stewart Fraser to win the day with 33 Stableford points.
Stewart also lost a shot of his handicap.
The runners-up were Matt and Jeff Hunter with 24 Stableford points.
Matt Russell was the only Nearest the Pin winner in Sunday’s competition.
Nominations have now closed for the NSW Sandgreens Four-Ball-Best-Ball Championships to be held in Cobar on March 17 and 18.
A field of 104 players has nominated for the event from across NSW.
It’s unfortunate that the Cobar golf course will not be at its best for the championships due to the lack of effluent water available to the club to irrigate the golf course.
Golf programs are now available at the club.
Saturday’s competition will be the 1st round of the Captain’s Trophy and will be a Stroke event. A single plus money ball Stableford team event will be played on Sunday. The rules of this competition can be found on the golfer’s notice board at the club.—Aces
