Scores were extremely close in last Wednesday’s women’s golf Stableford event with only four points separating 1st to 7th.
Robynne Morton claimed victory after a three-way countback with Elaine Burton and Gloria Hay when all finished with 38 points.
Geraldine Francisco was 4th with 37 points followed by another countback between Alma Rogers and Di McLeod (35 points each) and Susan Goonrey scored 34 points to place 7th.
Saturday’s three person Ambrose was another nail-biter of a game and was won by the team of Daphne Cross, Barb Barklimore and Vivian Beehan with a score of 66⅓ net.
The runners-up on 66⅔ net were Karen Manns, Brenda Fugar and Chrissy Gilligan.
Third position went to Fay Hardwick, Di Greer and Geraldine Francisco and rounding out the placings for the day were Di McLeod, Susan Goonrey and Wan Sipatsa.
Nearest the pins prizes on the 8th and 11th holes were won by Ann Dunn and Fay Hardwick respectively.
Countbacks were again needed to find the winner in Sunday’s Stableford and Scratch game.
Fay Hardwick cleaned up in both after surviving a countback from Di Greer (both ladies scored 36 points).
Hardwick also went on to win the Scratch event with a score of 24.
Ann Dunn was next (35 points) followed by Pat Polack and Sue Phillips (33 each), Pam Sikora (32) and Robynne Morton scored 30 points.
A Par game is set down for today which is predicted to be very hot. Cooler conditions are expected on the weekend for a Stableford on Saturday and a Four-Ball-Worst-Ball Stableford on Sunday.—T’d Off
