Big turn out for CATS event including Bourke competitors

There was a big turnout of 23 competitors for the Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad’s (CATS) November triathlon on Sunday morning at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool.

The group of competitors also included two athletes from Bourke who completed the long course and finished second and third overall in the handicapped event.

The best handicapped performance on the day was by a team with CRJ, Charlotte Young (swim), Ryley Morley (ride) and Josh Scott (run), finishing the short course (300m swim/10km ride/2km run) in a total time of 48mins.

Second overall in the handicap was Jay Yocke from Bourke with Tristan Marshall (Bourke) in third.

Yocke finished as the handicap winner of the long course (500m swim/20km ride/4km run).

He finished in a time of 1hr.22min.49sec.

Mick Howell had the best overall time in the long course finishing in 1.08.13 with Marshall second (1.15.32) and Martin Scott was third on 1.16.50.

Greg McKervey, in his first long course this season, finished with an overall time of 1.27.58.

McKervery had the best long course run time of 16min55sec, which was almost a minute and a half quicker than Howell who recorded the best splits in the swim and cycle legs.

Cheryl Lewington finished as the overall handicap winner of the short course and was also the handicap winner of the women’s division. Lewington turned in personal best performances in her swim and run times to finish with an overall time of 45.26.

Thomas Jones was the men’s short course handicap winner (with personal best performances in his swim and run times) and also finished second overall in the handicap.

Steph Baker finished third overall in the short course handicap event and recorded the best overall time in the short course for the women (41.43) and also clocked the women’s best swim time of 5.10.

Bianka Jacobson recorded the best short course bike time in the women’s division (23.29) and Amie Hill’s (9.42) was the quickest run time for the women.

In the men’s division Jones was the handicap winner finishing in a time of 44.33.

Wade Potter recorded the best overall time and also the quickest swim, ride and run times of the short course to set a new club record with a very fast time of 32.58.
