The Cobar Lady Golfers Pennants side had a clean sweep over Narromine last Friday winning all five matches played.
The team consisting of Sally Bannister, Pat Polack, Chrissy Gilligan, Jannine Wilkin and Angela Fryer, had to give the Narromine players extra shots in all but one match (Chrissy Gilligan gained one shot) but in the end all the Cobar ladies were well ahead before the 18th hole, which didn’t need to be played for a result.
The next round of the Pennants competition will be played in Narromine next Monday.
Wednesday’s Stroke event at home was a warm up for Friday with Sally Bannister winning the day with a score of 73 net.
Wan Sipatsa, carding 76 net, was the runner-up ahead of Marlene Wynd and visitor Jenny Murray who both came home with 78 net scores.
Ann Dunn finished with 80 net.
Gloria Hay regained her putting crown with 26 putts on the day.
There was a small field for Saturday’s Stableford and Scratch game (due to the Cobar Races) and it was a tight affair with countbacks separating all placings.
Wan Sipatsa and Elaine Burton scored 33 points each while Jenny Murray and Daphne Cross both had 31 points.
Judy Mitchell, who hasn’t be seen on the course for a long time, was given a big welcome back.
It seems she hasn’t lost her touch, winning the Scratch event plus picking up a nearest the pin prize on the 11th hole.
Ann Dunn claimed the pin prize on the 8th.
Wet weather forced the cancellation of the Mother’s Day event planned for Sunday.
Golfers have their fingers crossed for some fine weather with a Par set down for today.
A graded Stroke round will be played on Saturday and a Trophy day is scheduled for Sunday and will be played as a Stableford.—T’d Off
