Bushies and Hombres recorded wins in the two Twenty/20 cricket matches played in the local competition on Saturday at Ward Oval.
Bushies, with 2/156 defeated CSA 92 on Saturday afternoon in the heat.
Batting first, Bushies’ openers Jade Buckman and Alec Fraser put on 94 runs for the first wicket with Fraser eventually dismissed for 50.
Buckman followed shortly after when he went for 64 runs.
Steve Nicholson (23 not out) and Stuart Fraser (3 no) then finished off the innings for the Bushies.
In reply, CSA started well with Tadgh Waugh (38), Tom McKenna (20) and Justin Kelly (17) all making good starts.
However with the score at 3/70 in the 11th over, CSA then lost seven wickets for just 22 runs and were bowled out for a total of only 92 by the 18th over.
Matt Bolam was the best of the Bushies’ bowlers taking two wickets and conceding just four runs.
In the evening match played under lights Hombres, with 8/160, were too strong for Wyatt’s Whackers bowling them out for 131.
Batting first, Hombres had a number of batters who contributed to their total including Jake Harbison who top scored with 28 runs, Phil Harley (23), Chris Gilbert (23) and Roger Mitchell added 18.
Wyatt Proudlove was the best of Wyatt’s Wackers’ bowlers taking 2/18.
In reply, Whackers never looked to be in the run chase after losing regular wickets.
Proudlove capped off a great individual performance scoring 46 runs for his team.
Next best was Ryan Urquhart who finished with 16 runs.
Ben McBride was the pick of the bowlers for the Hombres taking 3/22.—contributed
