Blue Cheese melts the competition in Junior Touch

It’s only early days in the Juniors Touch competition, but already it’s shaping up to be a great contest with two thrilling games played last week at Ward Oval.

Blue Cheese finished with a super close 9-8 win over the Tigers and Red Hot Chilli Runners just won their Round 2 match with Banana Splits, 10-9.

Jason Cleary Thou touched down for two tries to help Blue Cheese to their narrow win with team mates Jack Geppert, Hugo Josephson and George Wainiqolo also adding a point each to their tally.

Bria-June Brookman also contributed two points to their score with her try. (Female tries are worth double points.)

In reply, Corey Cleary Thou crossed three times for the Tigers and Bradley Hampton and Sonny Stephens scored a try each.

The referees’ Best & Fairest points went to Corey Cleary Thou, Corey Compton (Blue Cheese) and Michael Rogers (Tigers).

Rhylee Nicholson, with three tries (worth six points) steered her Red Hot Chilli Runners team to their close win last week.

Team mates Josh Gillette (2) and Taj Goonrey (2) were their other try scorers.

Points for Banana Splits came from Alfie Toomey (3), Dusty McDonald (2), Jax Murrell (2) and Rosie George also crossed for a try.

The game’s Best & Fairest points were shared by Josh, Rosie and Alfie.
