The Empire Hotel sponsored three lady
Ambrose golf competition on Saturday had
one of the largest fields to date this season
with 18 players turning out.
Fay Hardwick, Sue Phillips and Glenda Peebles
had the best net score of 68 5/8 to win the
day. Wan Sipatsa, Daphne Cross and Susan
Goonrey came home in second place with 70
2/3 net.
In third spot were Narelle Kriz, Jannine Wilkin
and Karen Manns on 72½.
Sipatsa picked up three Nearest the Pin prizes
on the 3rd, 11th and 15th holes leaving the
7th for Hardwick and the 11th was won by
Kriz.
Sally Bannister was the Stroke winner on
Sunday after finishing with a round of 74 net.
Julie Livingston was the runner-up with 76
net followed by Serena Fraser with 77 net,
Jannine Wilkin on 79 net and Marlene Wynd
with 80 net.
Livingston was the A Grade pin winner on
the 11th hole, Susan Goonrey claimed the B
Grade pin prize and Glenda Peebles won the C
Grade pin.
Four lady golfers defied the weatherman’s
predicted 10-20mm of rain last Wednesday and
they came out the winners when not one drop
fell from the sky during their game.
Robynne Morton enjoyed the day finishing
with -4 for the win and she also won the Nearest
the Pin prize on the 8th hole for A Grade.
Geraldine Francisco was runner-up on -5 and
Susan Goonrey was closest to the pin for B
Grade.
The results of the Vets Country Championships
were: Division 1 Scratch winner—Sally
Bannister 88; Division 2—Julie Livingston 95;
and Division 3—Ann Dunn 109.
Division 1 Net winner—Fay Hardwick 80;
Division 2—Jannine Wilkin 79; and Division
3—Daphne Cross 81.
The Senior Vet winner was Marlene Wynd
with a score of 80 net
