Big field of 86 riders for auto club’s Area-X event

Aaron Rankmore (on bike 336) led the Senior Lites class into the first berm of Cobar Auto Club’s motocross track in the first race of their Arena-X event on Saturday night. Rankmore held on to his front position to win this class.

Cobar Auto club conducted a very successful Arena-X meeting on Saturday night, with 86 riders competing for the Tyre Doctor sponsored trophies.

A large contingent of local riders came up against other riders from Broken Hill, Cunnamulla, Dubbo and Condobolin.

There was a big field of juniors with 14 riders in the 65cc 7-9 years category.

Jack Deveson finished in front with Ripley Rowbotham second and Tye Henderson was third.

There was a class of 12 riders in the 65cc 10-12 years category with Campbell Hall finishing out in front of Jonty Hatton (second) and Jayke Seeliger was third.

The 85cc 9-11 years had 15 riders lined up at the gates. Jayden Mulholland took first place with Jonty Hatton second and Jayke Seeliger was third.

Clancy Clatworthy won the 85cc 12-15 class from a field of 10 riders. In second place was Justin Harrow with William Ambrose third.

Connor Albert got the chequered flag in the Junior Lites class with William Ambrose second and Jarryd Walmsley was third.

There were also good numbers in the senior classes with 14 lining up to contest the Senior Lites division.

Bailey Aitken and Aaron Rankmore were joint winners with Luke Grey second and Bradley Rankmore was third.

Luke Harding was out in front in the Senior Opens with Callum Dodimead second and James Staniforth was third.

The placings were repeated in the All Powers class.

Dion Fitzsimmons won the Greybeards class ahead of Joel Parisi and Matt Wood.

Ten keen Nippers riders showed off the skills they have learnt at coaching sessions.

There were reports of a few spectacular crashes but all the riders ended the night with no serious injuries.—contributed
