Aurelia is an awards finalist

The finalists for the NSW Minerals Council’s Health, Safety, Environment and Community Awards were announced last week with Aurelia Metals among them.

The annual HSEC Awards showcase some of the NSW mining industry’s best innovations and contributions across a range of categories and are a highlight of the annual NSW Minerals Council Health, Safety, Environment and Community Conference (HSEC).

Aurelia is one of two finalists for the Environmental Excellence award with the company’s Reportable Environmental Incident Frequency Rate (REIFR) Reporting system, a tracking measure for reporting its environmental performance, shortlisted for the award.

The REIFR measure calculates the number of environmental incidents with a risk rating of level three and above per million hours worked, similar to how safety performance is measured.

Aurelia incorporated REIFR into its internal and external reports, reflecting its commitment to transparency and minimising environmental impact.

By tracking and reporting environmental performance with the same rigour as safety, Aurelia has seen an increase in compliance and a reduction in environmental incidents.

Aurelia’s commitment to environmental performance over and above regulatory compliance has contributed to improved safety results as part of its broader strategy and the company has witnessed year-on-year improvements.

Winners will be announced later this year.
