Harmony CSA Mine has completed its second Pathways to Mining Program for 2026, marking the first time the mine has run two groups in the same year.
The program is a collaboration with Cobar High School with eight students, Lila Armstrong, William Davis-Manns, Skyla Fairfall, Billy George, Maddison Jeffery, Rhylee Patterson, Rossita Kea and Halle Snudden (pictured opposite) graduating in the second 2026 group last week along with Nash Webster and Josh Francisco who were part of the first group but missed their graduation.
Harmony CSA Mine’s Senior Training Advisor Craig Jones said a total of 21 students had now completed the Pathways to Mining program during 2026.
The program provides participants with practical training and an introduction to mining careers, including site induction, confined space entry, working at heights and basic first aid.
Students also heard from different departments about job roles and required qualifications and took part in a surface site tour.
Mines Rescue personnel also assisted with working-at-heights training before participants completed rope rescue exercises with the team.
Two participants from this year’s programs have already been offered apprenticeships for 2027 with the mine.
