Roosters 2026 season is one to remember

The Cobar Roosters Rugby League Club celebrated one of their most successful seasons on Saturday night at the Cobar Services Club.

Team awards for First Grade, Ladies League Tag, Youth League and Reserve Grade were handed out along with the club’s perpetual awards.

The Eric Martin Best & Fairest player award went to First Grader Thomas Plater with team mates Loma Atuau named the Most Consistent Forward and Tadhg McMullen was the Norm Armstrong Most Consistent Back.

McMullen also collected the Barry Fox Most Dedicated Player trophy and was the club’s Highest Point Scorer with a season tally of 140 points.

Brianna Watson was named the Most Consistent Footballer of the year.

Taylah Good, who scored 14 tries in the 2026 Castlereagh League Tag competition, was the club’s highest try scorer of the season.

The Daryle Bannister Rookie of the Year trophy was earned by Jaxon Burke.

Madison Knight from the Roosterettes, was named the Most Improved Footballer, while Youth League’s Rowdy Barton was named the Diane McLeod Player with the Most Potential.

Ella Oborn was named the Rob Gilligan Junior Club Person of the Year while Myah Sullivan was the 2026 Tom Knight Club Person of the Year.

The First Grade team award winners were: Coach’s Award—Jaxon Burke; Best & Fairest—Thomas Plater; Players’ Player—Thomas Plater; Team Spirit—Nathan McAndrew; and All Rounder—Timothy Hillam.

The recipients of the Ladies League Tag team awards were: Coach’s Award—Sarah Morley; Best & Fairest—Sosie Barton and Brianna Watson; Players’ Player—Georgia Boland; Team Spirit—Kayla-Hassan Williams; and All Rounder—Sosie Barton.

In the Youth League team awards, the Coach’s Award went to Justin Bruce; the Best & Fairest award was shared by Lachlan Brookman and Jackson Muldoon; their Players’ Player was Jaxon Burke; the Team Spirit award went to Rowdy Barton; and the Youth League All Rounder was Lachlan Brookman.

Reserve Grade’s team awards went to: Coach’s Award—Andrew Rolfe; Best & Fairest—Oisin McMullen; Players’ Player—Jarrod Hilton; Team Spirit—Patrick Harris and Reserve Grade’s All Rounder was Chris Riley.
