Cobar Shire councillors wrapped up the public business of last Thursday’s Ordinary Council Meeting in less than half an hour before moving into a closed session.
Among the key decisions made during the meeting was the determination of fees to be paid to councillors ($14,450) and the mayor ($31,510).
Councillors also elected Cr Harley Toomey as Council’s delegate to the Mount Grenfell Historic Site Board of Management.
Council adopted its Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) suite of documents, which guide the organisation’s strategic direction, delivery program, operational plan and long-term financial planning.
A report concerning Council’s Code of Meeting Practice was also considered.
Councillors resolved to rescind the version of the code adopted in October last year following the passing of a Disallowance Motion in the NSW Parliament last week.
In the closed session, councillors discussed a tender for the upgrade of 15 bathrooms at the Lilliane Brady Village and voted to decline the submissions received.
They resolved to allocate an additional budget amount of $1,000,000 towards the project to help cover compliance costs, asbestos management and an extra allowance for the work to be carried out in stages. They also delegated Council’s General Manager to undertake negotiations for the work.
