Cobar rugby league players travelled to Cessnock recently to represent the Far West Academy of Sport (FWAS).

Cobar’s Jackson Muldoon lined up in the U17 boys team and Skyla Fairfull in U17 girls, along with Ella Oborn, Isabelle Gillette, Rhylee Jeffrey, Tillie Cain, Audrey Josephson and Harpa Martin in 15s girls’ side.

The 17s girls won their game 24-4 with Skyla dominant in both line breaks and tackles gaining meters on every touch.

She showed her versatility across training and plays with her skilled passes directing play.

The FWAS 17s boys also won, 26-14, with Jackson used as an impact player with his fresh legs pushing the opposition up the park with powerful runs.

Jackson was named a standout by the Cobar coaching staff for his “teamwork attitude” when he opted to take the long trip on the bus with the squad while his parents drove to the game.

The FWAS 15s girls side was dominated by the Cobar kids starting with Ella Oborn being named team captain.

Rhylee opened the scoring for FWAS which was followed up with a try from Ella and three crosses for Harpa.

Audrey took on new positions and shined with her strong attack.

Despite being one of the youngest and smallest on the field, Isabelle showed that no matter your size, determination and a big smile will always shine.
