The Cobar Miners Race Club committee
continues to be in good hands with the current
executive committee re-elected at Sunday’s
annual general meeting.
Returning president Jarrod Marsden heads up
the unchanged committee with Vince Sikora
staying on as vice president and Kym Miller
and Natalie Prisk will continue to share the
secretary/treasurer role.
In his president’s report, Marsden said 2021
had turned out to be a very rewarding yet frustrating
year for the club and committee.
“We were lucky enough to be able to run a
successful May meeting with only minor restrictions
in place due to COVID at the time,
however the August meeting had to be abandoned
mainly due to no crowds being allowed,”
he said.
“As a club we have done a wonderful job to
be able to have three out of four meetings
throughout the pandemic, a feat I believe no
other non TAB country club can boast.”
He said the club had also had some major
achievements off the track this past year, including
the construction of the new toilet
blocks.
“They are a wonderful and welcome addition
and all feedback has been positive,” Marsden
said.
He urged the club to now look for more grant
funding opportunities to grow their infrastructure
including the installation of more shaded
and seating areas; to upgrade the hill viewing
area; and install a commercial kitchen.
Marsden praised the committee for all of
their efforts over the past year.
“I really appreciate everyone’s contributions
and it’s our small but dedicated band of helpers
that makes us such a great club,” he said.
In general business at the meeting, the possibility
of changing next year’s race dates was discussed.
