The Rotary Club of Cobar last week received a $17,000 grant from the Community Building Partnership grants program.
Rotary’s David Snelson said the grant will fund the replacement of the portable shade structure at the back of the Uniting Church with a permanent structure and also fund the purchase of a PA system for the hall.
The NSW Community Building Partnership program supports the improvement of community infrastructure and creates more vibrant and inclusive communities by supporting projects that encourage community participation, inclusion and cohesion.
The Uniting Church Hall and back playground area are used by a number of local groups including church members, Cobar Outside of School Hours (COOSH) care and the Cobar District and Mother’s Association.
All projects were assessed on merit and judged as to how they would enhance existing community infrastructure.
Projects that encouraged participation in activities or services needed by a broad section of the community were looked upon favourably for funding.
