The Cobar Yabbies took a small contingent of swimmers to Forbes over the weekend to compete at the Western Districts AIF Carnival.
The senior men’s club returned home with a couple of trophies including the four man Scratch relay and the four man 200 years plus relay trophies.
Matt Harland, Murray Harland, Stuart Harland and Jacob Ryan won the Scratch relay finishing with a time of 2min8sec.
The 200 years plus relay was a handicapped event and was won by the Cobar team of Bob Clark, Scott Toomey, Doug Rourke and Bill Fugar with a time of 0.04 seconds off their nominated time.
The Yabbies also featured in the 10 man handicapped relay, finishing in second place.
John Carswell place third in the President’s handicapped race and Matt Harland was third in the 50m Scratch event.
Colin ‘Butch’ Eves made the final of the 30m handicapped freestyle event, Scott Toomey the 50m and Murray Harland and Bill Fugar lined up for the 100m final, however none finished in the top three.
The Yabbies are hoping to improve on their results at the Nationals championships next month at Southport.
