Rain affects scores and numbers

The rain may have had an effect on last Wednesday’s Ladies Golf Stroke game as thee were only seven players in attendance.

The wet however didn’t worry Susan Goonrey who posted a score of 65 net for the win over her sister, Geraldine Francisco, who finished with 67 net.

Ann Dunn came home in third place with 70 net.

Goonrey’s tally of 21 putts for the 18 holes was a contributing factor to her winning score.

Saturday’s Cobar Bowling & Golf Club Day Stableford attracted 17 players with Angela Fryer taking the game’s honours with 35 points.

A three-way countback was needed to separate Chrissy Gilligan, Geraldine Francisco and Di Greer when all three ladies had 33 points.

Joy Josephson was next best with 32 points followed by Marlene Wynd (31) and Julie Livingston (30).

Nearest the Pin prizes went to Pam Sikora, Chrissy Gilligan (2) and Robynne Morton (2).

The BCD Projects sponsored Stableford game on Sunday saw the same numbers as Saturday take part but, with the ground drying out, the scores had improved.

Julie Livingston’s 37 points was enough to win the day over another three-way countback between Chrissy Gilligan, Pam Sikora and Ann Dunn.

All three carded 36 points each.

Di Greer had 35 points and Narelle Kriz and Susan Goonrey both scored 33 points to close out the top placings.

Di Greer, Julie Livingston (2), Geraldine Francisco and Robynne Morton all picked up Nearest the Pin prizes.

Something different for a Wednesday game this week is a Foursomes format (select own partner and free day).

The Ladies Golf annual general meeting will follow (see ad on Page 19 for details).

A Par game is set down for Saturday and on Sunday the Captain versus Vice Captain Day, which was postponed from the long weekend, will be hotly contested and is a free day.—T’d Off
