The Cobar Junior Rugby League Club hosted teams from Warren and Narromine on a very chilly day on Saturday at Tom Knight Memorial Oval.

Despite a vast improvement by the Roosters’ Under 11s team, the boys went down 56-4 to the Warren visitors.

Reynold Mugugia scored his team’s only try in Saturday’s match and then backed up to help out the 13s team in their game against Narromine. Also serving the Under 11s Roosters well were Westen Collins, Rusty Hodges and Reegan Traynor.

Following the 11s game an undermanned Cobar Under 13s side took on a big Narromine pack in their Round 5 game of the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League competition.

The Cobar team was missing a couple of players through injury and were helped out with three players from the Under 11s team stepping up.

The Cobar team fought valiantly but was beaten 58-0 against a well drilled Narromine team with a slick, quick backline that scored a number of runaway tries. The Cobar boys tried hard all game and had an inspired period of play late in the match but, with a shortage of players, they struggled all game.

Cobar’s best players were the Roche brothers, Klay and Jett, along with Tommy Rogers.

The club is looking to recruit more U/13s players and anyone interested in joining the team is welcome to go along to training.

The Cobar club will once again play host this Saturday for Round 6 of the competition to the U/11,U/13 and U/15 Dubbo City teams.
