Good golfing weather continues

Lady golfers Barbara Barklimore, Karen Manns, Geraldine Francisco, Daphne Cross, Jannine Wilkin and Marlene Wynd on the course on Sunday.

Geraldine Francisco had a win in last Wednesday’s Stableford round in the ladies Golf competition.

Francisco scored 36 points and finished seven points clear of the runner-up, Fran Samios, on 29 points. Fay Hardwick was third with 28 points and she was also the A Grade Nearest the Pin winner on the third hole.

Francisco won the pin for B Grade and Susan Goonrey was closest for C Grade.

The few millimeters of rain that fell on Friday settled the dust nicely for Saturday’s March Trophy Day. A field of 16 contested the previously postponed event.

Wen Zhang finished the day with a big score of 41 points to claim the win and a new handicap. Fay Hardwick was the runner-up on 37 points. Jannine Wilkin was next after a countback from Glenda Peebles (both had 31 points).

Karen Manns scored 30 and Julie Livingston finished with 29 points.

Those closest to the flag on the 7th hole were Fay Hardwick, Geraldine Francisco and Donna Prendergast.

Sunday’s Stroke event win went to Jannine Wilkin with a score of 69 net with Susan Goonrey the runner-up with 76 net, Fay Hardwick had 80 net and Karen Manns, 81 net.

Julie Livingston was the best putter on the greens for A Grade with 28 putts.

The B Grade prize was shared between Karen Manns and Jannine Wilkin after both had 27 putts while in C Grade Susan Goonrey, Glenda Peebles and Daphne Cross all had 29 putts.

Stableford games will be played today and tomorrow (Anzac Day) and on Saturday the Vet’s Country Championships will be played as a Stroke round in conjunction with a competition. A Par game on Sunday will round off the weekend.—T’d Off
