Empire easily account for Nymagee

Nymagee’s Steve Nicholson batted aggressively against the Empire quick bowlers in
Saturday’s 40 Overs game at Ward Oval in an effort to hurry the score along. While he did spend a bit of time at the crease, the Empire bowlers quickly ripped through the Nymagee batting line-up to have them dismissed by the 27th over.

Empire easily defeated Nymagee by six wickets in the Cobar & District Senior Cricket 40 Overs game at Ward Oval on Saturday.

The only high point for Nymagee on the day was winning the toss!

They chose to bat and it all started to unravel in the second over when they lost their first wicket.

Nymagee was bowled out for 94 by the 27th  over.

Matt Nicholson (40 not out) and Steve Nicholson (11) were the only Nymagee batsmen to reach double figures.

Empire’s Nicola Harbison ripped through Nymagee’s batsmen, taking four for 26 from seven overs.

In reply, Ryan Urquhart (36) and Tarun Bheemireddy (21 not out) guided Empire to an easy win.

Adam Hill was the pick of the Nymagee bowlers taking three wickets for 15 runs.

Twenty20: Whackers were too good for Tilpa/Bushies to easily win their Twenty20 cricket match at Ward Oval on Friday night.

Whackers won by eight wickets with five overs to spare.

Batting first, Tilpa/Bushies made 123 runs for the loss of seven wickets from their 20 overs. Tarun Bheemireddy was their top scorer with 30 runs from 33 balls.

Whackers shared the wickets around with Ryan Urquhart finishing with the best bowling figures of 2/16 off three overs.

Batting in reply, Jed Noonan belted 50 runs off 22 balls and Ryan Urquhart remained not out on 35 runs (from 44 balls) as Whackers easily cruised to the required target.

The Senior Cricket representative game between Cobar and Bourke had to be postponed once again due to flooding in Bourke.

It is hoped the match will be able to be played this Sunday.—contributed
