Butcher Birds win Yabbies’ relay

Butcher Birds were the winners of this year’s Yabbies Australia Day handicapped relay. The team of Colin ‘Butch’ Eves, Scott Toomey, Georgia Baker and Chris Gilbert finished within 2.53 seconds of their nominated time in the 4x50m freestyle relay. Cobar’s Australia Day ambassador John Moriarty AM (at left) presented the team with their Cobar Quids prizemoney. After the heats, it was the Joso Rox team who went into the final as the favourites however the Butcher Birds, swimming in the pole position of Lane 4 got the better of Joso Rox in the final with Joso’s team finishing within 2.84 seconds of their time. Muz and the Mermaids were third with 3.53 and Stationery Essentials finished 4th with 3.67 seconds off their time.
