Bushies’ “management skills” sees them through to a win

Good management skills by the Bushies golf team captain, David ‘Ooze’ Knight (second from left) ensured the Bushies had another win again this year over the Townies team. Also pictured with Ooze just before tee off on Saturday morning were John Daly (Townies), Allan Knight (Bushies) and Greg Clark (Townies).

A field of 24 golfers contested the Ernie Potter Memorial Day in conjunction with the Bushies versus Townies two man Ambrose event in the Men’s Golf competition on Saturday.

Once again the management skills of Bushies’ captain David ‘Ooze’ Knight proved to be the difference in the two teams.

The Bushies were able to drop their two worst scores out of the overall total as they had two more pairs than the Townies.

Bushies finished with a winning total of 337.5 to Townies’ 358.25.

On the bright side for the Townies, Ooze has announced he is stepping down from his management role with the Bushies.

The best two man team scores were: 1st—Alec Fraser and Mark Fraser with 65.5 net; and 2nd—Peter ‘Ding’ Lawrence and Geoff Dunne, also with 65.5 but beaten on a count back.

In third spot were Colin Kershaw and Paul Kershaw with 67.5 with 4th place claimed by  Geoff Rorke and Scott Mayne on 67.75.
