Lila and Ella Armstrong and their mounts Additional (aka Lofty) and Bob Marley recently made the trek to Tamworth for the annual Interschools Horse Extravaganza.
It was a big event that attracted over 800 horse and rider combinations, with approximately 30 riders competing in each division.
Lila, representing Cobar High School and Ella, from St John’s School, both competed in combined training on Friday.
Lila and Lofty placed first in dressage for their CT80 division but, having one rail down in the show jumping put them back to 6th place, but it was still a podium finish with places awarded up to 8th.
Ella and Bob Marley placed third after their dressage for their CT65 division and unfortunately they also had a rail down to put them in 6th place.
Saturday was a busy day for Ella and Bob as they competed in two dressage tests and two show jumping rounds.
They placed second in 1.3 and finished 5th in 1.2 preliminary dressage to give them the Reserve Champion in their division.
In show jumping they placed 10th in their accumulator round and then were eliminated in their second phase.
Lila and Lofty competed in two rounds of show jumping placing 9th in their accumulator and 11th in their AM2 class.
The girls’ mum, Tahnee, said it was a great three days of competition.
“It’s one of our favourite events for the year.
“Tamworth’s AELEC is an amazing venue and the organisers and volunteers do such an amazing job!” Tahnee said
