There were plenty of budding master builders putting their creativity to the test in Cobar Shire Library’s 2026 LEGO Legends competition, with some brick-tastic creations impressing voters.
With Snoopy, a horse on a motorbike and a colourful flower vase to the Very Hungry Caterpillar, there was no shortage of imagination on display.
Librarian Jane Siermans said the 9-11 years category attracted the most entries this year, while adult participation was also building on last year.
A LEGO enthusiast herself, Jane said it was encouraging to see more adults getting involved and showing off their LEGO creations.
A total of $200 in Cobar Quids, sponsored by Aurelia Metals, was awarded to the winners.
Charlie McKay took first place in the 5-6 years category, ahead of Skylah Jebb.
Anna McKay claimed first place in the 7-8 years division, with second place shared by another of Anna’s entries along with Rabia Kidd and Levi Cullen.
Ethan Jebb built his way to victory in the 9-11 years category, ahead of Davey McKay.
In the adult division, Georgina Whiteman claimed first place with her detailed Batman Gotham City entry, with Elizabeth Dunlop’s intricate Owl from Harry Potter winning second prize.
Jane encouraged more budding builders to get their bricks together for next year’s competition, which she says will return.
