Cobar’s Ella Oborn and Harpa Martin are currently on their way home from playing with the Australian Wanderers girls rugby league UK and France touring side.
The pair were part of the Wanderers Australia junior girls squad (aged 15-17 years).
Wanderers Australia international sports tours run educational and competitive rugby league touring programs around the world.
The tours offer Australia-wide combined squads where players join without strict elite selection trials.
As part of their UK visit, Ella and Harpa played a team from Bradford, lined up against the St Helen’s Super League juniors, as well as matching it with the powerhouse Yorkshire Stanningley club and another very strong Yorkshire team, the Oulton Raidettes.
The Australian girls won three out of their four matches.
In addition to playing rugby league, the girls (and their parents), also got to do some sightseeing in London, attend the Super League Grand Final at Manchester’s Old Trafford, and more sightseeing in York.
The tour finished in France where the group visited the Battlefields of The Somme Region and took in the sights in Central Paris, including visiting the Eiffel Tower.
