Cobar golfers compete in field of 156

While only six players were playing at  the ‘Royal Cobar’ course on Sunday another 12 lady golfers made their way to play in the Nyngan Men’s and Women’s Combined Open.

Attracting 156 players, the Nyngan club went above and beyond with the course immaculate, the greens lightning fast and plenty of food, beverages and perfect weather.

Those Cobar players who won prizes were: Narelle Kriz—A Grade front 9 hole Scratch (40); Wen Zhang—B Grade front 9 hole Scratch (46) and the B Grade Nearest the Pin prize; Pat Polack—B Grade front 9 hole Handicap winner with 32 1/2 net; and Sally Bannister—All Grades Nearest the Pin winner on the back 9.

The course was playing that well that many Cobar players broke their handicap without even winning a prize!

The Stableford game at home on Sunday was won by Julie Livingston who posted 37 points.

Fay Hardwick and Barb Barklimore scored 32 points each.

Livingston and Barklimore picked up pin prizes on the 7th hole.

The annual Cobar Bowling & Golf Club sponsored Stableford was played on Saturday with Narelle Kriz scoring a very respectable 39 points for the win.

The runner-up was Fay Hardwick on a countback from Sue Phillips after each finished the day with 37 points.

Next was Serena Fraser and Wen Zhang, both on 34 points.

Nearest to the flag on the 3rd hole were Fraser, Zhang and Phillips while winners on the 15th hole were Kriz, Geraldine Francisco and Glenda Peebles… Full report in this week’s edition out now!
