A few more minutes on the clock was all the Cobar Roosters Under 18s needed in their Castlereagh Youth League match against Baradine on Saturday at Tom Knight Memorial Oval.
After being down 14-4 at half time, after Ben Griffiths sensationally scored for the young Roosters just before the break, the Cobar side fought back in the second half and they came achingly close to pulling off an upset win.
Despite playing short for the last seven minutes (with a player in the sin-bin), Ba-radine however held out to finish with a close 22-20 victory.
At three-quarter time Baradine comfortably led 22-4 but that was before the young Roost-ers revived their attack.
They really put the wind up the visitors when Cobar took control of the game and Zane Taylor crossed for two tries and Grif-fiths touched down again in the final minute of the game.
However time was against the Roosters and Baradine held on to post the two point win.
Ted Smith, with a number of inspiring runs and strong defence throughout the match, collected the coach’s Best & Fairest three points with Taylor earning two points and Griffith collected one point.
