Record breaking convoy in Cobar today

The Kidman Way is set to become a 170km long traffic jam today, but it’s all for a good cause with the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners making their now famous trip from southern NSW to Ilfracombe in Queensland. The convoy of around 400 trucks and trailers kicked off their 1,700km trip yesterday and will arrive in Cobar today for lunch, repeating their visit to town in January where locals lined Cobar’s main street to cheer the group on before joining them for lunch at the RTA rest area just west of Cobar. On this trip the group will deliver 14,000 bales of hay to drought stricken farmers in the Longreach region of Queensland, with the truck drivers volunteering their time and vehicles to make it happen.
