Cobar Juniors win Far West Knockout

Cobar Junior Rugby League made a great start to their 2019 season with their Under 13s team recording a preseason win at the Far West Under 13s Knockout Carnival, hosted by Brewarrina on Saturday. The young Roosters defeated Coonamble 22-0 in their first hit out and then went on to beat Walgett 28-0. The Cobar team came up against their hosts in the grand final where the Roosters finished as winners on a ‘for and against’ countback after the match ended in a 28-all draw. Coach Rob Josephson said the grand final game was a real see-saw battle with Bre taking an early 10-0 lead before Cobar hit back hard to take a 10 points advantage over Bre.
Josephson said he was a bit worried when the Bre side stormed back into the game but the Roosters matched them and the game
finished in an exciting draw. Cobar’s Players’ Player was Jayden Paul who scored six tries for his Roosters side. Kai Taylor ran in four tries for Cobar and one try each was scored by Reece Josephson, Lachlan Willard, Hayden Seng and Jamal Eves. Cobar Junior League’s 2019 season in the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League competition officially kicks off early next month.
