Yabbies witness unprecedented event

A large group of 21 Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club members were present at the pool last Tuesday night to witness an unprecedented event.

Never before in the club’s 44 year history have four ties been recorded all on one night of competition, and three of them were for first place.

The night started with Josh Brown and Jarred ‘Jacko’ Davey recording the first tie of the night.

They both swam to within 0.09 seconds of their nominated times to claim the prize in the 30 metres handicapped freestyle swim.

The second tied time was for third place between Luke Quintal and Doug Rourke who finished within 0.16 seconds of their times.

Equal first in the 50m swim were Bill Fugar and Andrew Watts on 0.12 seconds with Mick Davies (0.13) a whisker away in third place.

John Carswell and Matt O’Keeffe both grabbed line honours in the 100m swim finishing within 0.19 seconds of their nominated times.

Narrowly behind in third place was Chris Powell on 0.22.

The night’s Brace Relay event was a wheelbarrow race across the pool and was won by Chris Powell and visitor Nick Kwong with a time of 0.63 seconds off their nominated time.
