Competition in the Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club barely missed a beat over the Christmas/New Year period with members only missing out on one week of competition.
At last week’s event at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool Jesci Clark won the 30 metres event after swimming to within 0.04 seconds of his nominated time.
In second was Jarred Davey (0.12) and 3rd was Ben Plush on 0.28
Doug Rorke won the 50 metres event outright with a time of 0.09 seconds off his nominated time with Clark and Chris Powell sharing second spot on 0.28.
Behind them were Davey, Matt O’Keefe and Plush all on 0.88.
In the 100 metres swim Powell (0.25) gabbed first place ahead of Stephen Clark (0.53) and Trevor Menadue (0.59).
The Brace Relay novelty event was won by Jesci Clark and Paul Swainston who finished within 0.25 seconds of their nominated combined time.
The winners of the January 5 swim were: 30 metres—1st Chris Powell 0.06, 2nd Trevor Menadue 0.17 and 3rd Doug Rorke 0.34; 50 metres—1st (3-way tie) Bill Fugar, Stephen Clark and Murray Harland 0.03; 2nd Trevor Menadue 0.31 and 3rd Scott Toomey 0.44; 100 metres—1st Chris Powell 0.28; 2nd Bob Clark 0.56 and 3rd Murray Harland 0.74; Brace Relay—1st Jesci Clark and Bill Fugar 0.37.
The results of the December 22 competition were: 30 metres—1st Jarred Davey 0.10, 2nd Murray Harland 0.12 and 3rd Ben Plush 0.15; 50 metres—1st Stephen Clark 0.00, 2nd John Carswell 0.12 and 3rd Jarred Davey 0.33; 100 metres—1st John Carswell 0.21, 2nd Chris Clark 0.31 and 3rd Murray Harland 0.91; Brace Relay—1st Scott Toomey and Ben Plush 0.05.
The Yabbies will once again be hosting the novelty relay event at next Tuesday’s Australia Day activities at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool.
