Local swimmers represent at Moree and Nyngan carnivals

Three young swimmers represented Cobar at the NSW Country Regional Swimming Championships in Moree on January 9 and 10 and a squad of nine attended the Nyngan carnival on December 20.

At Moree Makaila Gordon had a fantastic meet winning a gold medal in her 100m butterfly and Bronze medals in 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 200 Individual Medley (IM), 100m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

She narrowly missed out on another medal after finishing in 4th  place in 50m backstroke.

Makaila recorded four PBs (personal best performances).

Thomas Jones also had a great meet at Moree. After having a year off from swimming he returned to the pool and recorded PBs in all nine of his events: 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 200 IM, 100m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 100m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 50m freestyle.

Younger brother Raymond Jones finished with two bronze medals in 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke.

He also achieved PBs in all his events.

There was a strong Cobar Swimming Club team at the Nyngan carnival.

Jared Apaza came 2nd in his 25m butterfly, 25m breaststroke, 25m backstroke and 25 freestyle events and 10th in his 50m dash for cash.

Milla Davey placed 2nd in her 25m backstroke swim and 6th in her 25m freestyle event.

Jair Apaza came 3rd in 50m butterfly, 4th in 50 breaststroke, 4th in 50m freestyle, 5th in 50m backstroke and 6th in his 50m dash for cash event.

Ryan Anderson placed 6th in 50m butterfly, 10th in 50m freestyle and 12th in the 50m Dash for Cash.

Lachlan Anderson finished 7th in his 50m freestyle event and 9th in his 50m Dash for Cash.

Nicholas Anderson placed 9th in his 50m breaststroke and 10th in 50m backstroke events.

Makaila Gordon achieved PBs in 200 IM and the 50m backstroke swims.

Raymond Jones recorded a 3rd place in 50m backstroke and PBs in nine events (200 IM, 50m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 200m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle).

Thomas Jones achieved PBs in his 400m freestyle, 200m, 100m and 50m breaststroke swims.
