The form of the Cobar Yabbies Senior Men’s Swimming Club members is looking good in the lead up to the Nationals championships next month.
The winning margins recorded in last week’s handicapped competition swims at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool included 0.03, 0.09 and 0.13 seconds off their nominated times.
Murray Harland had the best result of the night in the 100m swim with his 0.03 seconds finish off his nominated time.
Bob Clark was second on 0.10 and Matt Harland was third with 0.34.
John Carswell clocked 0.09 seconds off his nominated time to win the 30m swim from Paul Swainston (0.19) and Ben O’Kane (0.34).
There were two winners in the 50m event with Bill Fugar and Scott Toomey tying for first place after both finished within 0.13 seconds of their nominated times.
Swainston, with 0.19, was narrowly behind in third place.
Colin ‘Butch’ Eves and Chris Powell teamed up to win the Brace Relay novelty event, which was a reverse dolphin dive across the pool.
They finished within 0.31 seconds of their nominated time to win over Andrew Watts and Swainston (0.44) with Cameron van Breugel and Matt Harland back in third place on 0.75.
The Yabbies will get some extra competition practice in this weekend with a contingent of swimmers heading to Condobolin for the Western Districts carnival.
