Cobar Shire Council’s general manager Gary Woodman resigned last Friday.
A statement from Council on Monday advised Mr Woodman had tendered his resignation which was effective immediately.
Mr Woodman took up the position of general manager at Cobar Shire Council in July 2010 following the departure of Ray Smith to Bland Shire Council.
Mr Woodman came to Cobar with almost 24 years service with local government having spent most of his career working as an engineer with Narrabri and Warren shire councils.
Later in his career he was appointed as the Director of Operations at Singleton Council in 2002 and also acted as council’s general manager for nine months prior to coming to Cobar.
During his time in Cobar Mr Woodman was an active member of the Rotary Club of Cobar (and was the current club president), coordinated the annual Outback Science & Engineering Challenge and played squash and cricket.
Mayor Lilliane Brady said in the interim council’s director of engineering services Stephen Taylor has been appointed as acting general manager. Council wished Mr Woodman and his family all the best in their future.
