Player of the Grand Final, Kai Taylor, opened the scoring for his Warringahs team in the Seniors game of the Touch Football competition on Thursday and it was to be the first of his five tries for the match.
Taylor’s five points, coupled with two tries from team mate Tadgh McMullen and one each scored by Ashley Cousins and Clay McDonald, helped the Warringahs to a thrill-ing 10-6 win over Kingspan.
Despite trailing the whole game, plenty of positive team talk and direction from Ryan Urquhart kept Kingspan in the game and an impressive second half triple try effort from Jaxon Burke pushed Warringahs to keep work-ing hard for their eventual win.
Jacob Chandler, Zaiden Saunders and Will Oborn were Kingspan’s other try scorers.
A well-drilled Red Devils team finished as 8-2 winners over the Orange Blazers in the Juniors grand final match.
A four try haul from Rowdy Barton coupled with a try each from Lara Stephens and Piper Allen helped to secure Red Devils’ win along with their hard working team mate Charlie Nicholson, who earned the Player of the Grand Final honour for his non-stop defensive and attacking efforts. Talas Burke and Tommy George scored the Blazers’ points.
The season’s Best & Fairest players were: Seniors—Kai Taylor and Ashley Cousins; Juniors—George McDonald and Lila Arm-strong. Jaxon Burke (with 12 tries) and Elleise Woodbridge (5) were the highest male and female try scorers in the Seniors competition while Rowdy Barton, with a huge tally of 18 tries, and Ella Oborn with seven tries, were the highest try scorers in the Juniors.
