A ‘hat-trick’ by CSA’s Tony Walkinshaw led his team to a narrow 3-2 win over the Peakaroos in the Mixed Indoor Soccer competition last Wednesday.
The game had been dead-locked at nil-all at the end of the half-time.
The first seven minutes of the second half saw a flurry of goals as Walkinshaw scored twice in quick succession and Peakaroos’ playmaker Thomas Wall also scored for his team.
When Wall scored again with 10 minutes remaining in the match, he levelled the scores at 2-all.
CSA replied quickly with Walkinshaw getting his ‘hat-trick’ and sealing the win for CSA.
Bayer Neverlosen continue to remain undefeated this season and last week won 5-2 against their competition rivals, Wii Not Fit.
Both teams had minimal shots on goal in the first half and were restricted to shooting from long range.
Wii Not Fit’s Josh Brown scored the only goal of the first half with a powerful strike to take a 1-0 lead at the break.
Bayer Neverlosen kept chipping away trying to create more opportunities and their big guns started firing in the second half.
Jade Buckman, Robert Childs, Scott Brown and Mel Bruce all scored goals as Neverlosen pulled away to lead 5–1.
Brown scored a consolation second goal for Wii Not Fit in the last minute of the match but it was too little too late.
The competition now takes a two week break before returning with the Male and Female All-Star games.—contributed
