An undermanned Castlereagh Cougars Under 19s side put in a valiant effort in their Women’s Rugby League grand final game up against Woodbridge on Sunday in Bath-urst.
The Cougars were short on numbers, includ-ing losing their captain, Cobar’s Hannah Car-roll, during the match.
Carroll tried to play through the pain of a shoulder injury she’d sustained playing up in the Cougars Opens side semi final game last week however she had to retire early from the grand final game on Sunday.
The team also had to make do with a few Under 17s girls to make up numbers.
Woodbridge however were too strong win-ning the grand final 56-6.
The Cougars were credited with having some of the best players in the competition, however being low on numbers in a few games, espe-cially the grand final, let them down.
All of the Cougars players were praised for their dedication this season travelling hundreds of kilometres to play and train each week.
